Amazon listing checker
Paste the copy of a listing and see, field by field, what is over a limit and what Amazon rejects: the 75-character title, the 125-character Item Highlights, the bullet rules, the 2,000-character description and the 250-byte backend field. Nothing is uploaded; the checks run in your browser.
What the product is. Brand first, then the product type with its main keyword, then size, count or colour. The 75-character title rule
Why to choose it, as three to five fragments separated by a middle dot (·). Indexed with the title, so repeat nothing from it. Item Highlights explained
One bullet per line. Capital letter first, no full stop at the end, no emoji, promotions or guarantees. Bullet point rules and examples
What the bullets could not hold: the routine, the materials, the sizing caveat, what is in the box. Plain text; HTML is no longer rendered. Product description rules
Only words the visible copy does not already use. Spaces between terms, no commas, no brands. Backend keywords: all 250 bytes
Questions
- Is my listing uploaded anywhere?
No. The checks run in your browser; nothing you paste leaves the page. Reloading clears the fields.
- Which rules does it check?
Amazon’s published limits and content rules for the five copy fields: the 75-character title with its banned characters and the two-repeats rule, the 125-character Item Highlights, bullets of 10 to 255 characters without emoji, promotions, guarantees or end punctuation, the 2,000-character plain-text description, and backend search terms under 250 bytes without words the visible copy already indexes.
- Why does the backend field count bytes?
Amazon meters search terms in bytes. In plain English a byte is a character; an accented letter takes two and most non-Latin characters three. Over the limit, Amazon may ignore the whole field.
- What does “Fix” versus “Consider” mean?
“Fix” is something Amazon rejects, removes or rewrites: a length over the limit, a banned character, a promotion. “Consider” costs ranking or conversion without being rejected: a repeated word, a bullet ending in a full stop, a backend term already indexed from the title.
- Does it cover my category’s style guide?
It checks the rules that apply to every category. Some categories set a shorter description, allow formatting, or add rules of their own; check the style guide for yours in Seller Central.
